On September 14th, 2022, twelve days after his 19th birthday, Xavier “Rhapsody” Clanton transitioned from this physical world into the spiritual realm. He leaves behind his loving parents and brother, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who continue to cherish his light and spirit.
Xavier was a gifted musician, lyricist, and visual artist. He blended hip hop with his guitar, created art that reflected his view of the world, and used creativity as his language. His brilliance continues to guide the work done in his honor.
In partnership with the Compton Wellness Collective and Color Compton, the Xavier Rhapsody Memorial Scholarship Fund provides annual awards to graduating Compton Unified School District seniors excelling in music and art. Young people who remind us of Xavier’s creative fire. Scholarships are awarded during the Color Compton Annual Gala.
Since 2023, we have awarded over $3000 in scholarships! Your donation helps us continue awarding and uplifting Compton’s young creatives so they can pursue their craft with confidence and community behind them.
